Works in progress
I am current in the process of revising a novel and short story collection.
The novel follows two college students, Travis Baker and Selma Osorio, who find themselves on opposite sides of mysterious memory drug experiment. As the new drug’s eerie side effects take hold, Travis begins to recall events connected to a recent (and seemingly random) spree of child disappearances and that put both his and Selma’s lives at risk.
The short story collection is written in a similar “Midwest Gothic” style and features pieces told from the point-of-view of characters at varying stages of life, from children to nonagenarians. Several of these stories have been or are soon-to-be published. They are also stories deeply rooted in a sense of place.
Whether in short or long form, my fiction explores issues related to mental and chemical health, as well as breaking cycles of intergenerational trauma. Ultimately, I hope that my fiction showcases opportunities for empathy, growth, and connection.
